Stewarding Our Resources
Dear Colleagues,
Illinois is defined by the innovation and creativity of our faculty and staff. We are not only a preeminent institution of higher learning, but we are also a place defined by the diverse people and ideas that make our campus so unique.
Historically, stable and predictable state funds helped the campus deliver high quality services and education. Since fiscal year 2002, while there has been an increase in state funding of employee benefits costs, direct state funding to the campus has declined. Now, in light of the economic downturn it has become difficult to anticipate the size of state appropriations and we must plan for the possibility of significant reductions in state funds for this fiscal year and the next. We must bring together our collective knowledge of the campus so that we can find ways to move forward in these difficult times and become stronger and more productive as a result.
This website is both a reference for information on our ongoing efforts to deploy the resources of this campus and a venue for input and collaboration. We encourage you to visit this site frequently for updates and developments. We also invite you to offer your thoughts on the challenges we will all face together.
